Chihuahua puppies are native to Mexico, South America, and Central America. Historians opine that the Aztecs used Techichi, the ancestor of Chihuahua, for ceremonial sacrifices, one of the rituals of their religion.

Chihuahua puppies are named after the Mexican state, Chihuahua. In 1904, American Kennel Club registered this name as a pet dog breed. Currently, this small dog breed is considered an exotic pet animal.

Size and Appearance

It is the world's smallest dog breed and is classified in the 'Toy Dog Group'. The size of a male Chihuahua dog is somewhere between 15 and 23 centimeters tall, while that of a female dog is between 15 and 20 centimeters. Both the male and female dogs weigh between one to three kilograms. They have an apple-shaped head and a pointed muzzle. The shade of their coats vary in colors, such as black, chocolate tan, gray, and white. They have two breeds, short-haired and long-haired Chihuahuas.

Teacup Chihuahua Puppies

The American Kennel Club or the British Kennel Club has not officially recognized the term 'Teacup Chihuahua'. It is a term used to describe a Chihuahua that is smaller than the official standard size of this dog breed.

However, like the other Chihuahua dogs, a teacup one is loyal and loving, and would make a good companion. This breed has a small apple-shaped head and large, pointed ears. These features make these pups popular.
