So you want to get a cute puppy for yourself, but are clueless as to where you will find one. We will help you in your escapade.
Everybody knows that dogs make great pets. They are the ones who will love you unconditionally and be your companions throughout their life.
However, if you are tired of living an organized life with an extremely obedient dog, perhaps you should try adopting a puppy. Trust these super-cute fur balls to play havoc in your life.
Keeping a puppy requires tremendous patience on your part, as the 24 hours of care and attention that they seek, can drain you physically and emotionally.
To cut the long story short, it is pretty much similar to adopting a child. We don't intend to scare you or deter you. We are only putting the real picture in front of you. If you can take it in your stride, then go ahead and get a puppy for yourself.

Puppies for Adoption

Inquire in Your Neighborhood

If you do not have any preferences with regard to the breed, then you can ask around in your neighborhood and see if anyone has had a new arrival of a litter of puppies.
It is very unusual for people to keep an entire litter and hence, your neighbors will be more than happy to give away a few puppies for adoption. You can also ask your friends or colleagues, if they know someone who is looking to give away newborn puppies.

Pet Shops

Most people get a puppy from local pet shops. The pet shops will have the breed you ask for and even if they don't, they will arrange one within a few days. This is the most convenient option, as you can actually get to choose the pup as per your preferences.

Animal Shelter or Pet Rescue Groups

They are helpful if you don't have preferences for breed. Getting a mixed breed puppy is better, as the chances of genetic deformities in mixed breed dogs are less. This can be attributed to the fact that there is no inbreeding in this case.

Breed Rescue Organizations

These are groups that specialize in a particular breed. Approaching these organizations is a great option, if you are looking for a particular breed and are not willing to settle for any other. However, you may find it difficult to get a puppy, as most of these groups keep adult dogs.

Internet

Just like any other thing in the world, you will also find puppies for adoption on the Internet. Several animal rescue groups or even private dog breeders post their advertisements on the Internet.
The Internet gives you an array of options to choose from, right from local breeds to rare, exotic breeds. However, it would be wise to stick to the local breeders or the rescue groups in your locality.
Puppies don't necessarily make great gifts, else we would not have seen so many puppies put up for sale in pet shops after Christmas or holiday season. Hence, think twice before you decide to adopt one.
