How to Give a Great Goldendoodle Puppy Cut

Home / Dog Training / How to Give a Great Goldendoodle Puppy Cut

Your Goldendoodle is going to look great no matter what. They’re simply cute animals. However, learning to give your pet a great Goldendoodle puppy cut can take its appearance to a whole new level.

There are a lot of different puppy cuts that you can give to your Goldendoodle. Some cuts are simple and can easily be done at home. Others require a bit more practice – they can still be done at home, but people without much practice might prefer to get them done by a professional.

In either case, this article outlines a few of the easiest Goldendoodle puppy cuts that you can give your dog.

The Best & Greatest Goldendoodle Puppy Cut Ideas

These are some of the most popular Goldendoodle puppy cuts, most of which can be done easily at home with a trimmer and some scissors.

The Classic – Goldendoodle Teddy Bear Cut

The teddy bear cut is by far the most common Goldendoodle hair cut – and for good reason. It’s a simple haircut that looks attractive, is simple to do on your own, and is relatively low-maintenance.

All you really need to do is trim the hair so that it’s between 1-2 inches in length. If you want to reduce maintenance, you can trim it down to 3/4 of an inch.

The Ferocious – Goldendoodle Lion Cut

The Goldendoodle lion cut is another haircut that can be managed at home. This fantastic puppy cut makes your cute and innocent Goldendoodle look like a (somewhat) ferocious lion!

The cut is simple enough: trim the hair on the lower part of your poodle to about a quarter-inch in length. Give a light trim around the dog’s face and leave the fur on the tail, feet, and chest full-length. This gives the appearance of a lion’s mane.

The Punk – Goldendoodle Mohawk

For those who want their pet to reflect their inner punk rocker, the Goldendoodle mohawk offers the perfect opportunity. This is an easy-to-maintain haircut that can be done in one of two ways.

  • The head mohawk involves leaving the hair atop the head and ears full-length while trimming the rest of the body down to an inch.
  • The full-body mohawk involves leaving a line of hair extending, and including, the head, all the way down towards the tail. Cut the rest of the hair down to an inch in length.

Either of these haircuts will showcase your (and your dog’s) inner desire to defy authority and rise up against The Man.

The Takeaway

The Goldendoodle is one of the cutest dogs on the planet. And, lucky for you, they’re also one of the easiest to groom and style. There are plenty of cool Goldendoodle haircuts to choose from. Today we’ve shared a few of the easiest ones you can do at home.

Goldendoodles are quite similar to poodles. As such, you can take some advice from this article on poodle puppy cuts. Many of these styles can be applied to Goldendoodles, too!

In fact, haircuts for most small dogs (including the Havanese) are at least somewhat interchangeable. So do some research and find out what works best!
